NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY 
REGULAR CADETS ADMISSION PROCESS

 REQUIREMENTS

• Male and female (female for
Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air
Force only).
• Must be between 17 and 21 years
old in August of the admission
year
(exceptions:: between between 1717 and and 18 years for Air Force cadets)
• 5 credit passes at O’ Level
obtained in not more than 2
sittings including English and
Mathematics.
• Not less than 1.68 or 1.58 metres
tall for male and female
respectively.

JAMB
• Any university of the
candidate’s choice – no
restriction. NDA need not
be selected.
•• Meet Meet the the national national minimum minimum
cut off mark of 180.
• Qualified to write NDA
Entrance Examination
(equivalent to Post-UTME) at
examination centre of
choice.

NDA ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
• Candidates are required to write
4 subjects depending on the
choice of course.
• English Language is compulsory
for all.
• There are 40 questions per
subject making a total of 160
questions.
• 50 candidates shortlisted per
state in order of merit to face the
Armed Forces Selection Board.
 ARMED FORCES SELECTION BOARD
• AFSB constituted yearly by the
Defence Headquarters.
• AFSB composed of equal
representation of members in
terms terms of of geographical geographical spread spread..
• Objective is to make final
selection of physically, mentally,
academically and medically fit
candidates for admission as
cadets in

NDA.SELECTION STAGES AFSB

• Credential screening – examine
original copies, look out for
alterations in age or certificate,
subject combination and age of
certificate (should not be more
than than 55 years years old) old)..
• Medical test (comprehensive).
• 3.2 km Race – 18 minutes for
male and 22 minutes for female
• Physical and mental tests –
obstacle crossing, sand modelling,
etc.

STAGES OF THE AFSB

• Aptitude test comprising essay
and objective questions.
• Psychological test.
• Board interview with the
candidate.
• Admission of successful
candidates (10 or more per state).
